Some Articles

I know it has been a while, but here are a few articles of interest.

Louis Freeh has his own take on How former President Clinton handled issues related to terror. Here is an excerpt:

The aftermath of the Khobar bombing is just one example of how successive U.S. governments have mishandled Iran. On June 25, 1996, President Clinton declared that "no stone would be left unturned" to find the bombers and bring them to "justice." Within hours, teams of FBI agents, and forensic and technical personnel, were en route to Khobar. The president told the Saudis and the 19 victims' families that I was responsible for the case. This assignment became very personal and solemn for me, as it meant that I was the one who dealt directly with the victims' survivors. These disciplined military families asked only one thing of me and their country: "Please find out who did this to our sons, husbands, brothers and fathers and bring them to justice."

It soon became clear that Mr. Clinton and his national security adviser, Sandy Berger, had no interest in confronting the fact that Iran had blown up the towers. This is astounding, considering that the Saudi Security Service had arrested six of the bombers after the attack. As FBI agents sifted through the remains of Building 131 in 115-degree heat, the bombers admitted they had been trained by the Iranian external security service (IRGC) in Lebanon's Beka Valley and received their passports at the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria, along with $250,000 cash for the operation from IRGC Gen. Ahmad Sharifi.

Byron York has an article dispelling the former presidents claim of being terrorists biggest enemy. No matter how much he rants and raves, the facts just aren't on his side.

Amid all the controversy, some former Clinton-administration officials began to pull back on their story. One of them — who asked not to be named — told NR that Time didn’t have it quite right. “There were certainly ongoing efforts throughout the eight years of the Clinton administration to fight terrorism,” the official said. “It was certainly not a formal war plan. We wouldn’t have characterized it as a formal war plan. The Bush administration was briefed on the Clinton administration’s ongoing efforts and threat assessments.” That, of course, was pretty much what the Bush White House said had had happened all along.

And finally a light hearted little article by Myrna Blyth on Hillary's biggest problem...Hubby Bill.

Time for some research on the real issue at hand, namely the election in just 42 days. I'll be back.

For Jonah

I am but the learner, he is the master. Just in time for Halloween, courtesy of Jonah Goldberg, I give you Halloween Cat Bowling.

Because it's been too long...

Penguin Smacking!

The Deficit

Here is a little good news on how the deficit is shrinking because of the tax cuts that President Bush pushed through congress in his first term. The democrats of course see no good news and the word from the DNC today is that the sky is falling.

I'm so late

As always. In case you missed it, here is the text of Preisdent Bush's speech on Monday. It was pretty good, but it should have had a bit more on Iran (at least by name). Also, it shouldn't have been up against the Minnesota Vikings game.

By the way, the dem's coming out seconds later complaining about politicizing 9/11 seems a little hypocritical to me. Me thinks they protest too much...

Guantanamo

So, I am just sitting there, minding my own business when I see a "crawl" on one of the networks that there is a British Lord (I don't remember his name) that says Guantanamo is a disgrace and all of the prisoners there should be moved to the US.

Lord Whoever you are, you're daft. I have a much better idea. Let's put them in you're back yard. You seem to like housing Islamofascists anyway.

I appreciate the fact that your government, well Tony Blair anyway, and most of your people are with us in this war on terror, I have had enough of "America is bad, Islamic's are just misunderstood" crap from you. Oh, by the way, I'm British by descent.

The woefully misunderstood tourists residing in our little hotel in Cuba are terrorists. They were captured on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq killing the coalition soldiers, and darn if they weren't wearing a uniform. Oops! No longer a Geneva Convention issue. Drat that bloody luck, what?

When I want advice on what to do with our terrorist prisoners I will ask for it. When I want what you are full of, I'll simply squeeze your head...My Lord.

Not Good

If you happen to be a cut and run liberal, that is. Apparently the Iraqi Government has taken control of the military in their country.

Coalition forces handed over control of Iraq's armed forces command to the government Thursday, a move that U.S. officials have hailed as a crucial milestone on the country's difficult road to independence.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki signed a document taking control of Iraq's small naval and air forces and the 8th Iraqi Army Division, based in the south. However, it is still unclear how rapidly the Iraqi forces will be prepared to take over their own security.

Sounds like another success story for Bush/Blair to me, although the mainstream media wants to spin it another way as the second half of the article shows. God forbid they simply report a success story.
