Charlemagne
My sister called me yesterday to tearfully tell me that her beautiful doberman Charlie had died. He had been failing off and on for the last several months, but I didn't know that the end was so near. Had I known, I would have made the effort to stop by and say goodbye to him when I was in town last week.
Charlie was a big brown and red lovable dog that would frighten you with his bark and then lick you to death. He was one of the sweetest puppies (11-1/2 year old puppy) I have known. My heart is with my sister and brother-in-law in this time of grief for them knowing that I will have to say goodbye to my own pups sooner than I want, but I know that Charlie is waiting for them at Rainbow Bridge. Read this blog entry about the loss of a loved dog, and be sure to read the short story about Rainbow bridge at the end. Here is a taste:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
Read the rest, it won't take long. Spend time with your pets. They love you unconditionally and a little attention from you means the world to them.
Goodbye Charlie.
