Cold Cash

The AP reports indicted Louisiana U.S. Representative William "Cold Cash" Jefferson has finally been defeated in a delayed election due to hurricane Gustav. Jefferson has managed to hang on to his seat even though the Feds had found $90,000 wrapped in foil in his freezer.

I don't know what it takes to get rid of these corrupt officials, from either party, but I am happy to see Jefferson go. He was defeated by Anh Cao who is the first Vietnamese to win a seat in congress.

John Fleming, also a republican won the other seat that was vacated by Jim McCrery.

With the win by Saxby Chambliss in the Georgia senate run-off, the apparent narrow victory for incumbent Norm Coleman in Minnesota's endless recount and now these two seats in Louisiana, Republicans have won the last four seats up for grabs in what was otherwise a horrible election cycle. They have about a year to re-group and return to conservative principles in order to have any chance of picking up seats in the midterm elections of 2010.

They better get started now, just to be safe.
