Happy Birthday...

Sarah Palin. She turns 45 years old today.

Let them eat

Pork! This is such horrible legislation that I am really speechless. You can ask Mrs. Scar and she will tell you that this almost never happens. Have a look:

Scaling back the bill to levels lower than either the $838 billion Senate measure or the original $820 billion House-passed measure caused grumbles among liberal Democrats, who described the cutbacks as a concession to the moderates, particularly Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., who are under pressure from conservative Republicans to hold down spending.

I can't tell you how much better I feel knowing that the bill has been scaled all the way down to $790 billion. One of the only things that I thought was helpful in the bill was pulled.

Working to accommodate the new, lower overall limit of the bill, negotiators effectively wiped out a Senate-passed provision for a new $15,000 tax credit to defray the cost of buying a home...

The housing meltdown is actually the reason we are having the problems we are in today (assisted by Dodd and Frank). Well, we can't be expected to go straight to the heart of the problem.

Unfortunately this bill isn't bad enough for the three republicans, Specter, Snowe and Collins, who helped pass it to now retract their support. It is time for some serious real conservative opposition to these so-called moderate republicans. Everyone across the nation should support this effort.

Color him unimpressed

Larry Kudlow had a short article on Timothy I-don't-have-to-pay-taxes Geitner, and I think you can safely say that he hasn't been overwhelmed with confidence. A small taste:

According to Merriam-Webster, a “plan” is “a detailed formulation of a program of action; a method for achieving an end.” But Mr. Geithner had none of this. As a result, stocks plunged about 250 points. Prominent investment strategist Ed Yardeni described Geithner as an empty suit with an empty plan.

I like Kudlow and generally agree with his point of view. You can read the whole article here. He also makes a case for Geitner to go away here and here.

John Kerry

John Kerry thinks that you are not smart enough to spend your own money. Of course, he has Teresa's money to fall back on...
