Hark! Doth I heareth another Wellstone Moment?

You know, when I was growing up, my Mom and Dad instilled in me some basic rules to go by so that I could get through life relatively unscathed. One of the things that I learned, although I'm not sure that it was an actual lesson in our household, was that you respected those who have died, as well as their family. A funeral is a time of sadness, to be sure, but it is also a time to respect and a time to celebrate the life of the dearly departed.

Yesterday, here in Atlanta, most of that took place for Coretta Scott King, widow of Martin Luther King Jr. However, there were moments that brought back memories of the late Senator Paul Wellstone's funeral service. The Wellstone memorial will not be something that will be remembered for honoring a fallen dignitary. It will be remembered for how a grieving family and a partisan hack crowd booed and heckled GOP senator's who came to pay their respects. It will be remembered for ranting and raving and turning something that should have been respectful into a partisan rally against the evil republicans and their warped agenda for the rich and powerful.

Former president Jimmy Carter and some reverend named Lowry (I hope that isn't you Rich) decided that this was the opportune time for taking political pot shots at President Bush, who happened to be sitting right behind the podium. The president had just given a very dignified speech honoring Mrs. King and the plight that she and her husband endured.

I think Ken Mehlman is right in his remarks that America doesn't vote for angry candidates. I think that this funeral, a time to honor a lady who deserves respect, shows exactly why the democratic party is losing their way. By and large, they have been bought and paid for (no, not all, just most) by the far left wingbats of moveon.org, and of course, the Hollywood elite that they crave at their fundraisers and dinner tables.

The democrats are fond of saying that their fight is one of class warfare. It is unfortunate for them that they are unarmed.
