How dare they

It used to be that when a man of respect was nominated for an exalted position, that the board charged with approving him of that position asked pointed and objective questions relevant to said position. Rarely was the nominee subject to personal, slanderous attacks. It appears those days are gone, at least if the current leadership of the Democratic Party has anything to do with it.

Judge Samuel Alito, the current Supreme Court nominee has been the target of questioning from the Judicial committee, and quite frankly the dem's have outdone themselves. Having heard from Moveon.org that they weren't being mean enough, they came out firing yesterday. Unfortunately, their aim is even worse than their policies.

Judge Alito remained calm and forthright throughout all of the accusations, but his wife, Martha-Ann Bomgardner left the confirmation hearings in tears after all of the accusations that her husband was nothing more than a racist and chauvinist. She returned to her seat shortly afterwards.

I don't remember Judge Ginsburg being questioned in this way by the Republicans about her affiliation with the ACLU or her belief that the age of consent should be 12 years old. But the opposition was more civil then....they were Republicans. Democrats seem to be the party of shrill. They certainly have no morals, civility or ideas. God forbid they ever have any real power.
