John meet Paul, Paul meet John...

It was 50 years ago today that 16 year old John Lennon met 15 year old Paul McCartney at a church picnic that John was hired to perform at with his band The Quarymen. Paul was playing a little backstage during a break, and John was impressed that he could tune his guitar without using a piano for the key. A couple of days later John asked Paul to join the group.
