Potterville
It appears that the new installment of the Harry Potter series of books sold just over 9 million copies in the first 24 hours. In the United States alone it sold at a rate of 250,000 copies per hour. It easily beat out the previous record holder, which was the previous Harry Potter book, by about 1-1/2 million copies sold.
I don't have a whole bunch to say about this, other than the fact that I was the first kid on my block to buy it. I have only read about 5 or 6 chapters, but so far so good. I will keep everyone updated on how I like the book, but I will not tell anyone what is happening in the book. If you haven't read any of these books, I would encourage you to start. They are well written and a whole lot of fun.
UPDATE: I am now about 3/4 of the way through and have nothing to say but, wow. JK Rowling is a superb story teller. There is not so much action in this edition, but the storytelling is pretty good. It looks like she is setting up the 7th and final chapter for the major showdown.
UPDATE: Having finished the book a few days ago, I can only say that I really look forward to chapter 7 of the series. I have seen the reports from various critics putting the book down, but I have to disagree. I found the story to be clear, well written and a lot of fun. While book three is still by far my favorite, I found this book to be extremely entertaining and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good story.
